MatchSelect™ Technology

As a leading provider of data-driven philanthropic analytics, DonorScape® Wealth Screening uses MatchSelect™ technology to resolve two principal concerns inherent in any electronic data screening system and to allow you to efficiently evaluate screening data.  An electronic data screening system can produce, on the one hand, a false positive, assigning high wealth or affinity characteristics incorrectly to a person or household.  On the other hand, a screening system can be unable to identify matches on the basis of the data supplied to it.  

Our MatchSelect™ technology has the advantage of resolving both difficulties.  Depending on the amount of information entered for a prospect search, or how common the search name is, when the search is conducted across each data source, the match quality will be categorized as Exact, Near, Possible, or Simple, indicating the level of confidence in the data set.  An Exact match typically indicates that all of the data supplied matches successfully to our data sources; a Simple match indicates that only some elements matched.  For example, searching for John Smith in Illinois will return many Simple matches.  By using more conservative search criteria to select only Exact matches, you can eliminate the problem of false positives.  Alternatively, you can relax your search criteria to ensure that your constituents with strong wealth and affinity characteristics are matched correctly.

As a result of MatchSelect™, you will save considerable time in assessing the quality of your screening results.  You may tighten or relax the search criteria as you choose, eliminating the need to verify the data manually to eliminate false positives or other screening errors.  Moreover, you will decide which matches to view and use in reports and capacity estimates.  You can choose to consider Exact matches or a combination of different levels of match quality. The database will expand or contract according to your selection. 

DonorScape® pre-screening takes the following steps to ensure the highest match quality:

• Files are first manually checked for obvious errors or formatting problems.
• Addresses are standardized, through an automated process that we also check manually, to match the formats used in our source databases and to correct any errors such as street directionals and missing zip codes.
• To increase match rates, recursive match logic (screening through a second pass) is implemented when additional information such as spouse name or business affiliation is uncovered.
• All submitted records are standardized to Postal Service formats, as are matching data source records.  This consistency of format yields a higher rate of accurate matches.  Further, multiple addresses (up to three), business information, spousal information, age, and other characteristics can be matched to expand the search criteria.
