Planning for the Future
Segerstrom Center for the Arts “believes the power of performing arts transforms lives and that the shared experience and exploration of the arts will help unite Orange County, creating a more culturally connected and vital community.” That mission requires financial support. The Center reached out to GG+A as it was approaching the end of their capital campaign and needed to prioritize prospects for the future, beyond those households who had generously supported the campaign.
The Center’s challenge was not lack of potential prospects, but rather how to go about prioritizing prospects beyond those it knew best. “We have a lot of donors and arts patrons, but need to identify those major gift givers and new prospects that would help us reach our fundraising goal and build our pipeline,” explained Katy McKay, Senior Manager, Development Research and Prospect Management.
GG+A’s DonorScape® gift capacity, annual giving, and major gift analysis provided the Center with the two great outcomes they had desired and one they did not foresee. As hoped for, GG+A’s analysis identified optimal annual giving levels, upgraded certain households with specific annual giving ask amounts, and surfaced altogether new major gift prospects for the future.
It was the constituent-level data behind each of those records, however, that had a rather unexpected outcome: the Center received a full web-based DonorScape research profile for each record, complete with asset-level data and evidence of giving to other organizations, as well as employment and nonprofit board activity. McKay found that having the prospect level “data transparent to the [development] team to view” helped give the development team confidence when approaching new prospects for upgrades and initial conversations about major gifts.
GG+A and DonorScape are delighted to assist Segerstrom Center for the Arts in creating a vibrant, culturally connected community through the shared experience of performing arts.
